Recently promoted Serie A club, Como are planning to retain Argentine midfielder Maximo Perrone for at least another year, according to reports. Perrone moved to Como on a loan transfer from Manchester City in August 2024 and has since featured in 24 games at the club under manager Cesc Fabregas. Playing primarily in the defensive-midfield position, Perrone has racked up three assists till date in the current season. This is second season he is being loaned out from Manchester City, after playing for UD Las Palmas in LaLiga during the 2023-24 season.

Manchester City have sent the youngster on multiple loan stints with the view to accelerate his development and offer him more game-time during the season. However, they do not seem to consider Perrone as a part of their future plans as they are open to selling the 22-year-old midfielder for a reported sum of 30-million-euros. Como seemed to have offered 12-million-euros for signing the Argentine youngster on a permanent deal but are now looking to activate the loan deal extension clause instead.

Cesc Fabregas has taken newly-promoted Como to 10th place in Serie A points table

The extension will see Perrone play at the club for yet another season under Cesc Fabregas, who has been instrumental in their recent rise. After finishing second in Serie B last season under Osian Roberts, Como were promoted to the top-division of the Italian domestic league. They decided to appoint ex-player Cesc Fabregas, who played his last professional lap at Como before hanging up his boots, a decision which has paid off handsomely.

Cesc Fabregas has instilled a new sense of belief in the club and its supporters and has propelled the club to the 10th place in the Serie A points table in his first season itself. With two more league games remaining, Como will likely finish strong in the top half of the points table and Fabregas will be aiming to only build on this positive start in the upcoming season.
