Eying hat-trick of wins in the South Africa T20 league, SA20 2025, SunRisers Eastern Cape went down against MI Cape Town at the Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday, February 8. The Rashid Khan-led side beat the two-time champions by 76 runs to cut short their dominance in the SA20.
During the course of the tournament, SunRisers Eastern Cape’s David Bedingham played vital knocks to help the side reach the final, however, the result might not have gone in their favour. Although, the third edition of the tournament came to a close on Saturday, in a big update it is being reported that the right-handed batter was set to tie a knot with his fiancé Jenna van Niekerk over the weekend, but had to postpone the plans.

As reported, Bedingham had to postpone his wedding after the SunRisers Eastern Cape progressed into the final, thus putting the cricketer in a spot of bother. “The wedding was booked and planned, but then SEC made the final, so now he has moved the wedding to tomorrow,” claimed South African cricket reporter Firdose Moonda.
Earlier, the 30-year-old cricketer in an interview to SuperSport highlighted on his plans for the big weekend, pointing out how he still has to make the flight to his wedding location on Sunday after the finale in Johannedburg. “My missus yesterday was literally saying I hope you guys lose, but she said once we won that we must make it to the final and then hopefully make it to the wedding as well,” explained Bedingham.
“My best man and my brother are also flying up, and basically they told my missus that they’ll make sure I make the flight. I said it will end up with me making sure they get on the flight,” Bedingham jokingly said.
Speaking of the summit clash, blistering knocks from Ryan Rickleton and Dewald Brevis in the death helped the side post 181 in the first innings, before the trio of Trent Boult, Kagiso Rabada and Rashid Khan defended it with some stellar performances to help the MI-owned franchise win the clash by 76 runs and lift the coveted trophy.
