Australia spinner Nathan Lyon has trolled England following their handshake controversy that took place during the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy played in Manchester. As Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar were heading towards their centuries in the match, England skipper Ben Stokes offered the former India player to shake hands and end the game in a draw. However, Jadeja denied the offer which irked Stokes. The England captain went on to ask his former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) teammate Jadeja, “You want to get a Test hundred against Harry Brook?” Stokes’ antics have drawn criticism from former servants of the game.

In the latest controversy, Lyon was queried what he would have done if he were in England’s place. Reacting to the question, the Aussie spin wizard took a jibe at the English side saying, “Get them out. Don’t let them get a hundred."

Nathan Lyon displays discontent over standard of pitches in the ongoing England-India series

Nathan Lyon has exhibited his dissatisfaction over the quality of pitches in the ongoing Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy. He said that England’s surfaces aren’t delivering the balance to both batters and bowlers. He also went on to berate Manchester’s batting-friendly turf. “The conditions over here (in Australia), it’s always been a great competition between bat and ball and that’s the way Australia’s produced wickets like that. So it’s going to be challenging for their batters and challenging for our batters. That’s the way cricket should be, you want to see competition between bat and ball. I think that’s crucial, and all the fans, that’s what they want to see, they don’t really want to watch what happened over in Manchester last week," said Lyon.

Lyon was also a part of Australian team that whitewashed the West Indies in a three-match Test series. In his team’s success, the 37-year-old chipped in with nine wickets in four innings of two games.
