Tennis star Emma Raducanu will be seen playing in the United States’ Indian Wells Open, which will start from March 5 after the 22-year-old faced an unfortunate stalking in Dubai. A man displayed obsessive behaviour towards Raducanu, which disturbed the young British player. The person’s presence in the stands intimidated Raducanu during her second round match at the Dubai Tennis Championships as she was seen standing beside the umpire’s chair when the security team took the bloke out of the venue.

Dubai Police detained the man and also issued a restraining order. Raducanu didn’t have a great time recently as she looked out of rhythm in both Australian Open 2025 and Dubai Tennis Championships 2025.

The Indian Wells tournament, which is also known as BNP Paribas Open, is one of the biggest tournaments besides the four Grand Slams played every year. Raducanu will break into the 128-player women singles tournament directly as she is currently in the 55th spot in world rankings. In the previous edition of the distinguished tournament, Raducanu got a wildcard entry after she made a comeback from wrist and ankle surgeries which hampered her career in 2023. She will be provided with increased security in the upcoming tournament.

WTA bans man who approached Raducanu during Dubai Tennis Championships

Emma Raducanu, who faced security concerns during her second-round game against Czech counterpart Karolina Muchova, has received assurance about her well-being from the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA). The illustrious tennis-governing body has also banned the man from all its tournaments.

Moreover, Raducanu hasn’t achieved anything notable after her famous US Open win in 2021. In recent years, she has faced a lot of fitness issues which have obstructed her career. Raducanu has also been in the news for facing trolls on social media. Her recent Dubai incident added charcoal to the fire.
