Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) owner Sanjiv Goenka recently appeared in an interview with BBC Sport and revealed that his newly acquired team Manchester Originals will witness the name change. Besides Originals, Goenka is also the owner of Indian Premier League (IPL) team Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and SA20 side Durban Super Giants (DSG) in South Africa T20. In February 2025, he secured a 70% stake in the team based at Old Trafford, after investing £80m in the team.
In the recent chat with BBC Sport, Sanjiv Goenka divulged that Manchester will be incorporated with his other franchises. "You will see a name change, and we will definitely bring in the Super Giants into this. That is something that we're trying to integrate, Super Giants into all our franchises," remarked Goenka. In the conversation, Sanjiv also said that the world thought that he overspent to acquire LSG in 2022. "When I invested $900m to buy an IPL team, the entire world thought I was mad. In the space of three and a half years, [it] is probably worth $1.5bn. The IPL is a league like no other but The Hundred…can only grow and we do believe that it will grow hugely,” added Goenka.

In The Hundred 2025 (men’s competition), Manchester Originals are in the sixth spot with one win and two losses in three outings. In their opening game at home, they lost to Southern Brave by one wicket. Following that, they faced a crushing nine-wicket loss at the hands of Oval Invincibles as well.
In their last match against London Spirit, they looked disciplined in all departments of the game to bag a 10-run win in Birmingham. Their next contest is against Welsh Fire in Cardiff on August 13.
