Abhishek Sharma, the Indian opener, went on a rampage with the bat during the fifth T20I of the five-match series against England at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Punjab-born cricketer scored the second-fastest T20I hundred in the Indian colours in just 37 balls, to find himself behind Test and ODI captain Rohit Sharma, who had brought up the fastest hundred in the shortest format of the game just 35 balls eight years ago, to be in first position in the illustrious list.

During his extended stay in the middle in front of thousands of fans in attendance, Abhishek Sharma managed to take down the pacers and spinners of England with great ease, hitting boundaries at will to reach his fifty in 17 balls, the second-fastest in T20Is for India. The second hundred in T20I cricket for the 24-year-old was very critical to India’s batting innings at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, which ended with them scoring 247/9 in their allotted 20 overs, setting a daunting target in front of England.
