
Pakistani pacer Shaheen Afridi has been fined 25% of his match fees by the International Cricket Council (ICC). the Apex Cricket Council took an action after the fast bowler was engaged in ain heater altercation with South Africa’s Matthew Breetzke during the ODI Tri Series clash at Karachi National Stadium on Wednesday, February 12.
During South Africa’s innings, Shaheen Afridi made a deliberate physical coontact with Matthew Breetzke and pushed the Proteas batter leading to the heater altercation between the two cricketers. As a punishment, Afridi was charged for breaching Level 1 the ICC code of conduct. However, the fast bowler escaped a ban.
Saud Shakeel, Kamran Ghulam fined 10% of match fees for aggressive celebration
Apart from Shaheen Afridi, his other two teammates Saud Shakeel and Kamaran Ghulam were also fined for their aggressive celebration after South African skipper Temba Bavuma lost his wicket in the 29th over of the innings. Both Shakeel and Kamran were found guilty of Article 2.5 of ICC’ Code of Conduct for offensive language and were fined 10% each of their match fees. The three players were handed a demerit point but escaped other sanctions as they don’t have a history of collecting demerit points in the last two years.
Talking about the match, Pakistan created history as they achieved their highest successful chase in ODI cricket and qualified for the final of the ODI Tri Series against New Zealand on February 14. Chasing a mammoth target of 353 runs against South Africa, skipper Mohammad Rizwan led from the front with a knock of 122*(128) runs hitting nine fours and three sixes. Apart from that, Salman Ali Agha also scored 134(103) runs with 16 fours and two sixes as Pakistan chased the winning total in 49 overs losing four wickets.
