Imran Tahir, the former South African cricketer, has accused the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) franchise of not paying all of his contract money from last year. The comments from the 45-year-old came during the toss time when he was captaining Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Global Super League (GSL) match against former team Rangpur Riders, where he also talked about how the situation surrounding the unpaid dues motivates him to do well versus the BPL team.

Notably, after playing his last match for South Africa in the ODI World Cup 2019, followed by his retirement from international cricket, Imran Tahir has been a regular feature on the T20 circuit all over the world despite being in his mid 40s. With 526 wickets in 420 matches in the shortest format of the game, the right-arm leg spinner is one of the top wicket-takers in 20-overs cricket.

I played for Rangpur Riders last year in BPL and haven't got all my contract money: Imran Tahir

After losing the toss to Nurul Hasan, the captain of Rangpur Riders, in a major turn of events, Imran Tahir spoke about how he wants to win the match for himself as much as his team Guyana Amazon Warriors. He was quoted as saying, as per ESPNcricinfo, “Today's game especially, obviously want to win it for Guyana, but for personal reasons as well. I played for Rangpur Riders last year in BPL and haven't got all my contract money. So that's motivating me in today's game. I want to do really well against them.”

“We want to show them that Guyana welcomes them, they bring their local players here, earn some money, play some good cricket, and show them that we're better humans than them,” he further added. Although Guyana Amazon Warriors lost a low-scoring game by 15 runs, failing to chase down a 118-run target in their allotted overs after Imran Tahir registered figures of 2/24 in his four-over spell.
