Even though the IPL season has just begun, the Delhi Capitals management will be concerned about the lack of contribution from the young Indian batters. While Gujarat Titans will be thrilled about how they have managed to find important contributions from all the batters even after Kane Williamson suffered an unfortunate injury in the field.

Pitch Report

The pitches at the Arun Jaitley Stadium have improved a lot for the batters in the T20 format with average scores going up year after year. Even then, the spinners do have a say in the proceedings as the ball tends to grip a touch as the match progresses.

Team Analysis

Delhi Capitals

In their opening match of IPL 2023, Delhi Capitals struggled with both bat and ball against LSG in Lucknow. Chetan Sakariya proved to be very expensive as he went for 53/1 in his allotted 4 overs. The experience of Axar and Kuldeep in the spin bowling department is a plus for DC but they will need the young fast bowlers to step up alongside them.

Talking about the batters, DC had only a couple of contributions from their overseas captain David Warner and Rilee Rossouw.  The youngsters like Prithvi Shaw, Sarfaraz Khan, and Aman Khan have to hit the ground running for the Capitals with the bat to have any chance of beating the formidable Gujarat Titans.

Gujarat Titans

Defending champions Gujarat Titans began their defence with a quality win against the mighty Chennai Super Kings. With the ball, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, and Alzarri Joseph were the chief contributors as they picked up two wickets each at a reasonable economy rate. The Irish international Joshua Little, on his IPL debut, got the tap in his first over but returned back to pick up the vital wicket of Ambati Rayudu.

Shortly afterwards, the batting department of Gujarat Titans was firing on all cylinders as their star player Shubman Gill led the way.  Saha, Sudarshan, Shankar, Tewatia, and Rashid also made key contributions, which will be a pleasant aspect for GT as they prepare to face off against Delhi Capitals away from home.
