Star England batter Harry Brook shared his thoughts on the heated banter between the players of the Indian team and England opener during the end of day three of the Lords Test. Commenting on the incident, Brook said that England always tried to play in the spirit of the game and alleged that India started the banter. Notably, after India were bowled out for 387 runs, same as England’s total in the first innings. The hosts come to bat in the final moments of day three.

As India were aiming to take a few wickets of England before the day ended, the play was interrupted a couple of times by the opening batters, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett in Jasprit Bumrah. Looking at this, the Indian players started getting frustrated alleging England players for wasting time. Indian skipper Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj and Bumrah also pointed finger on England openers as it turned out to be a heated situation. However, on the fourth day of the Test match, England players with the likes of Harry Brook and Brydon Carse also sledged the Indian players.

It was tiring, but good fun: Harry Brook

Now, as England and India are set to take on in the fourth Test of the series at Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester, Harry Brook commented on banter with Indian players in the press conference ahead of the fourth Test. “Yeah, we saw them guys going at Creeps (Zak Crawley) and Ducky (Ben Duckett), so we had a little chat and we thought we were a team, so we may as well combine with each other, get together and yeah, go back in there," Brook was quoted as saying by News18.

“I’ve had a lot of compliments, everybody said that it was awesome to watch and it looked like there was 11 versus 2 out there and we’re fielding and it was good fun. It was good fun. It was tiring, but yeah, it was good. It made fielding a lot more enjoyable," Brook further said.
