Kidambi Srikanth, Lakshya Sen enter second round of Indonesia Open, Priyanshu Rajawat gets walkover

Srikanth is currently ranked world number 22, and with his latest win in the tournament over world number 13 Lu, he stands 5-0 in his head-to-head record against the Chinese shuttler.

Indian shuttlers Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshya Sen advanced into the second round of men’s singles at the Indonesia Open World Tour Super Over 1000 on Wednesday, June 14. Srikanth took down his Chinese rival Guang Zu Lu 21-13, 21-19 to advance into the next round. On the flip side, Commonwealth Games champion Lakshya Sen defeated his Malaysian rival Zii Jia Lee 21-17, 21-13 in just 32 minutes.

Srikanth is currently ranked world number 22, and with his latest win in the tournament over world number 13 Lu, he stands 5-0 in his head-to-head record against the Chinese shuttler. As they move to the next round of the tournament, Srikanth will now face his compatriot, world number 20, Lakshya Sen in the Round of 16 of the Indonesia Open on Thursday. Speaking of another Indian at the tournament, Priyanshu Rajawat got a walkover from Kunlavut Vitidsarn of Thailand to seal his berth in the next round. 

Rajawat will now face the winner of the match between Denmark’s Hans-Kristian Solberg Vittnghus and Anthony Sinisuka Ginting. Apart from them, HS Prannoy will take on Angus Ng Ka Long from Hong Kong in the second round. In the women’s singles round, Aakarshi Kashyap went down to South Korean badminton player An Se-Young 10-21, 4-21 on Wednesday, June 14.
