Michael Schumacher's 2003 title-winning Ferrari , which was put under auction has been sold for a record price of USD 14 Million. The auction took place in Geneva, where the car was set under the hammer on Wednesday.
With this, Michael Schumacher’s old F2003 has now become the most valuable ‘modern-era’ F1 car ever sold, as said by auctioneer RM Sotheby. Notably, the previous record was held by Schumacher-driven Ferrari F2001 model, which was sold for USD 7.5 Million in New York.
An unidentified telephone bidder was engaged in a 40- minute war for the car, with the auction house expecting 9.5 million Swiss francs. However, he later went on to win the bid with a price of USD 14 Million.
The German’s 2003 Ferrari helped him win five Grand Prix in his title winning year. This model was brought in at the Spanish Grand Prix, the fifth race of 2003 season. The 52-year-old drove it to victory in Spain, Austria, Canada, Italy and the US Grand Prix.
