Vidarbha are looking set to give a big target to Kerala in the ongoing final of the 2024-25 Ranji Trophy being played at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, Karun Nair, who got out after scoring 86 runs in the first innings, went on to complete his hundred in the second innings as Vidarbha finished day four with a lead of 286 runs and will look to extend their lead beyond 300 runs to give Kerala a big target on day five of the match. 

Vidarbha took a lead of 42 runs after Kerala were bowled out for 342 runs in the first innings. For Kerala, skipper Sachin Baby led from the front but failed to complete his hundred as he got out after playing a captain’s knock of 98(235) runs while Aditya Sarwate contributed with 79(185) runs. For Vidarbha, Darshan Nalkande, Harsh Dubey and Parth Rekhade scalped three wickets each while Yash Thakur put one in his bag. 

 

Karun Nair scored hundred in 2nd innings

In the second innings, Vidarbha got a poor start as they lost two wickets for just seven runs in 2.2 overs. After that, Danish Malewar and Karun Nair took charge of the innings as the duo put up a partnership of 182 runs for the third wicket. Malewar got out after scoring 73 runs off 162 balls hitting five boundaries. After his dismissal, Nair took the innings further and added another 49 runs with Yash Rathod before the fall of the fifth wicket.

Rathod got out after scoring 24(56) runs, while Karun Nair remained unbeaten on 132*(280) runs hitting 10 fours and two sixes as Vidarbha finished day four at 249/4 with a lead of 286 runs. Now, Nair and skipper Akshay Wadkar will continue the innings further on day five. For Kerala, Jalaj Saxena, Adiitya Sarwate, Akshay Chandran, M.D. Nidheesh scalped a wicket each so far.
