Vidarbha are looking in strong position by the end of day two of the semi-final of 2024-25 Ranji Trophy against Mumbai at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur. After, Dhruv Shorey (74 off 109) and Danish Malewar (79 off 157) shone on day one, Yash Rathod also completed his half-century on day two along with skipper Akshay Wadkar’s 34-run knock off 62 balls as Vidarbha were bowled out for 383 runs in the first innings.
For Mumbai, Shivam Dube shone with a five-wicket haul as he registered figures of 5/49 in his spell of 11.5 overs. Along with him, Shams Mulani and Royston Dias scalped two wickets each while Shardul Thakur put one in his bag. After that, Vidarbha went on to dominate Mumbai as Parth Rekhade and Yash Thakur took charge with the ball.
Akash Anand scores fighting 67* runs as Mumbai look for comeback against Vidarbha
In reply to Vidarbha’s 383 runs in the first innings, Mumbai lost their opening batter Ayush Mhatre early at the score of 18 runs. After that, Akash Anand and Siddhesh Lad put up a partnership of 67 runs for the second wicket before Lad lost his wicket after scoring 35(92) runs, hitting four boundaries. However, the middle-order couldn’t continue the momentum as Mumbai were reduced to 118/6 after 41.5 overs.
After that, Shardul Thakur joined Akash Anand at the crease as the duo added 60 runs before the fall of the seventh wicket. Thakur got out after scoring 37(41) runs, hitting four fours and a six, while Anand was still at the crease by the end of day two scoring 67*(171) so far, hitting six boundaries and will continue the innings with Tanush Kotian on day three. For Vidarbha, Parth Rekhade took three wickets while Yash Thakur put two in his bag. Apart from that, Darshan Nalkande and Harsh Dubey scalped a wicket each. Vidharbha are currently leading with 227 runs before the start of day three.
