Punjab Kings (PBKS) delivered a dominant performance in their IPL 2025 clash against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on May 4 in Dharamsala, securing a 37-run victory. The star of the show was Prabhsimran Singh, who blazed his way to a brilliant 91 off 48 balls, setting the tone for PBKS’s mammoth total of 236/5. His aggressive yet composed innings at the top of the order dismantled LSG’s bowling plans early and provided the foundation for an imposing score.

PBKS started strong after being put in to bat, with Prabhsimran taking on the LSG bowlers right from the powerplay. He stitched together a 78-run stand with skipper Shreyas Iyer, who added 45 off 25 balls, to take PBKS to 122/2 by the 12th over. Even after Prabhsimran's dismissal, the momentum carried forward with a late flourish from Shashank Singh, who remained unbeaten on 33 from just 15 balls.

In reply, LSG faltered early in the chase. Arshdeep Singh struck twice in the powerplay, removing openers Aiden Markram and Mitchell Marsh, and later trapped Nicholas Pooran LBW, severely denting LSG’s hopes. Ayush Badoni and Abdul Samad offered brief resistance in the middle overs, but the required run rate kept climbing. LSG eventually managed 199/7, falling well short of the target.

Singh scored his third consecutive half-century of IPL 2025; registering his highest score of the season so far

Prabhsimran Singh’s knock was the defining highlight of the match. His 91 included 6 fours and 7 sixes, and he reached his fifty in just 30 balls. He was calculated in his shot selection, attacking anything full and using the pace smartly on a lively Dharamsala pitch. He credited the support of coach Ricky Ponting and the clarity of his role for his performance.

Singh's innings not only earned him a standing ovation upon his dismissal and the Player of the match at the end but also played a crucial role in PBKS's 37-run victory over LSG. This win propelled PBKS to the second spot in the points table, enhancing their prospects for playoff qualification.
