Chennai Super Kings ended their IPL 2025 campaign with an 83-run win over Gujarat Titans at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. After the match, the fans were eager to know whether skipper MS Dhoni will be seen playing in the next IPL season or if this was his final game in a CSK jersey. However, Dhoni didn’t give any confirmation for now as he said “I am not saying I am done, not saying I am coming back at the same time. I have the luxury of time. Will think about it and then decide,” at the post-match presentation.
However, MS Dhoni also took an hilarious dig on the rumours of his retirement from the IPL due to his performance. The wicketkeeper batter said that the players would have retired at the age of 22 years if they take performance as a criteria. “I have 4-5 months to decide, there's no hurry to decide what needs to be done. Every year it's more effort to keep the body fit. You have to be at your best, this is top level cricket. It's professional cricket. It's not always performance you can count. If cricketers start retiring because of their performances, some of them will retire at the age of 22,” Dhoni said.
I will enjoy a few bike rides and then decide: MS Dhoni
Speaking further, MS Dhoni revealed his plans after the end of the IPL. The 43-year-old said that he will spend some time at his home in Ranchi and will also enjoy a few bike rides. Notably, the five-time champions had their worst IPL season as they finished at the bottom of the points table with just four wins and 10 losses.
“What is important to see how much hunger you have and how fit you are. How much you can contribute for the team. Whether the team needs or not, so I have enough time. Will go back to Ranchi, haven't been home for a while, so I will enjoy a few bike rides and then decide,” Dhoni said.
