Former Indian cricketer, Irfan Pathan feels the PBKS skipper, Shikhar Dhawan, will have a true test of character during the ongoing season of the IPL. Dhawan played a smashing match-winning knock against Rajasthan Royals in the team’s second IPL 2023 encounter in Guwahati. Before that, Dhawan’s squad hammered Kolkata Knight Riders in their season opener at Punjab Cricket Association IS Bindra Stadium.
Ahead of the PBKS vs RR clash, the former Indian all-rounder said that Dhawan’s clash will play a critical role not only for him but also for their team. Speaking in a panel, Pathan said that Dhawan is a senior member with a consistent form in the IPL. He had been in and out of the Indian team which must have troubled the player, and it is why he needs to prove that he is the real Gabbar of Indian cricket.

Pathan said, "Shikhar Dhawan is a senior player in the IPL and has been very consistent with the bat too. He's a very powerful player who possesses a very strong mind. He has to prove himself as a captain this year, and for that, his batting is essential." He further added, "Being in and out of the Indian team must have bothered him, and that's why he would like to prove that he is still the real Gabbar of Indian cricket."
Punjab Kings are in full form in this season of the IPL. With a streak of unbeaten two matches which landed them the second seed of the points table. The boys in red would wish to hit a winning hat trick when they enter the ground to meet Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 9, Sunday.
