India cricketer Shreyas Iyer, who is on his way to recovery from a shoulder injury, has been named in the Mumbai Cricket Associations' (MCA) 45-member list for its fitness camp prior to the 2021-22 domestic season.

Notably, the 26-year-old had sustained a shoulder injury during the ODI series against England in March and was ruled out of the entire Indian Premier League. However, the T20 tournament was suspended midway after multiple COVID-19 cases emerged inside bio-secure bubbles of several franchises.

The right-handed batter had undergone a surgery in April and has been doing his rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore ever since.

Arjun Tendulkar also finds his name on the list

Meanwhile, legendary Sachin Tendulkar's son Arjun Tendulkar, an emerging left-arm pacer, has also been named in the side. Moreover, the squad also boasts of senior India players Rohit Sharma and Ajinkya Rahane but the players’ availability is still in doubt. With India finishing their England tour on September 14, the players will immediately get involved in the second half of the IPL rescheduled in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

Post that, Sharma will feature in the ICC T20 World Cup set to be held in November, with still doubts over the availability of Rahane, who is not a regular member of the T20I squad.

Iyer confirms availability for second half of IPL 2021

Earlier, Iyer had confirmed his availability for the remaining part of IPL 2021. He added that the captaincy decision will be made by the franchise owners since in his absence, Rishabh Pant was made the skipper of the team, who reached their first-ever finals in 2020.
