Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar has put blame on batters for his team’s six-wicket loss against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Batting first after losing the toss, the hosts notched up 61/1 in just 3.5 overs but after opener Phil Salt’s departure, their batting collapsed as they kept on losing wickets at regular intervals. It was Tim David’s batting effort (unbeaten 37 off 20) that took Bengaluru to a score of 163/7 eventually.

Following the crushing defeat, Patidar appeared in a post-match press conference and said his batters didn’t bat well. He also added batters looked confident but didn’t capitalise on the start. "We have not batted well. Batters are in a good frame of mind, they have shown nice intent. 60 for one, and then 90 for four, that is not acceptable," said Patidar.

He appreciated David’s knock and his pacers’ exceptional bowling in the powerplay overs. "We thought it would be a nice batting track. We were lacking in assessing the conditions and the situation. The way David accelerated at the end, it was really amazing. The powerplay, the way the (RCB) fast bowlers bowled, it was really special (reducing Delhi to 30/3)."

KL Rahul’s batting heroics snatch the game from RCB

Defending the total of 163, RCB pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Yash Dayal bowled extraordinarily. Dayal got rid of veteran opener du Plessis in the second over of the match and handed the first breakthrough to his team. Yash was joined by Bhuvneshwar Kumar as the 35-year-old took the crucial scalps of Jake Fraser-Mcgurk and Abhishek Porel within the powerplay overs.

With 30/3 in 4.3 overs, KL Rahul along with his captain Axar Patel was required to stand at the crease and produce a vital knock for his team. Patel got dismissed after scoring 15 off 11 but Rahul took the show ahead and dominated the bowlers. DC completed the chase in 17.5 overs and won their fourth game in a row.
