Mumbai Indians (MI) showed their dominant side against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 match played at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 27, and bagged a 54-run victory. After losing the toss, MI were put to bat first and Ryan Rickelton delivered a ferocious start to the hosts. The Protea produced a brisk knock of 58 off 32 and delivered an ideal start for the hosts. After Rickelton’s dismissal, LSG got a hammering from MI’s vice-captain Suryakumar Yadav, who accumulated a quick 54 off 28. In the final overs of the innings, Naman Dhir and Corbin Bosch flexed their muscles and scored quick runs from their bats to help Mumbai reach 215/7 in their 20 overs.
Chasing the giant score, Lucknow got fighting innings from Mitchell Marsh (34 off 24) and Nicholas Pooran (27 off 15). After their dismissals, no batter could handle MI’s ferocious bowling. In a reply to the humongous score, Lucknow got bundled out on 161 after completing their 20 overs. Noting MI’s another extraordinary performance, netizen have come up with hilarious memes. However, a lot of users also issued a warning to other IPL teams, citing MI’s remarkable victory against Rishabh Pant and his men. MI’s latest triumph promote them on the IPL 2025 points table
Mumbai’s 54-run win against Lucknow has promoted them to the second spot on the IPL 2025 points table. They toppled Delhi Capitals (DC) to win the place. This was MI’s sixth win in the competition after their 10 outings. After losing their four off their initial five games, Mumbai have bounced back in the tournament, winning five games on the trot.
LSG have now lost five games in the tournament and they are now placed in sixth place on the table. Their captain Rishabh Pant has looked out of rhythm with his bat in this tournament. Against Mumbai, he came to bat at number four and lost his wicket after scoring only four off two.
