On Sunday, June 15, Tottenham Hotspur confirmed the signing of forward Mathys Tel from Bayern Munich on a permanent deal after he played for them on loan since this past February. The North London club have agreed to pay a transfer fee of around £30 million to Bayern Munich for the Frenchman, who is just 20 years of age, and he will sign a six-year contract after his loan deal ends with them on June 30.
During his stay at Tottenham Hotspur on a loan deal from Bayern Munich last season, Mathys Tel played 20 matches for them, scoring three goals and providing one assist. The youngster was on the bench for Tottenham Hotspur during the final of the UEFA Europa League (UEL) last month, which they won by defeating Manchester United 1-0 at the San Mames Stadium in Bilbao.
Mathys Tel played for Brentford under new Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank
Mathys Tel is currently a part of the French squad for the European Under-21 Championship, and after the conclusion of the tournament, he will sign on the dotted line to join Tottenham Hotspur. The deal for the Frenchman surely has an influence from the new club manager Thomas Frank, appointed earlier this week, especially since these two worked with each other at Brentford sometime ago.
Apart from bringing in Mathys Tel, who was previously associated with Thomas Frank, Tottenham Hotspur are also trying to push for a deal to bring in Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer. Frank has been a key figure in taking Mbeumo to the next level in his career during their time at the Bees, which is why there is a chance of them reuniting at the North London club despite the fact that Manchester United have a concrete interest in the player.
Also, Bryan Mbeumo has reportedly preferred to join Manchester United this summer, and the club have submitted an official offer for him to Brentford recently.
