After suffering shocking elimination from the T20 Asia Cup 2022 from the Super-4 stage, the All-India Senior Selection Committee will have lot to think when they will meet on September 12 (Monday) afternoon to pick men's squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup, scheduled next month in Australia. As earlier stated by Indian skipper Rohit Sharma, 90 per cent of the team is already finalized while the discussion between selectors is likely to be focused on few players.

Performance of the team in Asia Cup 2022 was being looked at as a preparation stage for the upcoming marquee tournament but failure in the continental tournament might force the selectors to brainstorm over the few names. Although Ravindra Jadeja's injury will make the life of Indian selectors tough, but the news of Indian speedster Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel being fit has came as a breather for them.

Rishabh Pant's performance will also be a matter of concern for the selectors, but the wicket-keeper batter has emerged as a regular in the squad and will tour Australia for the World Cup. Dinesh Karthik will be another wicket-keeper batter who will be part of the squad, but his inclusion in the squad will be closely monitored after the latter was only part of the first and last match in the Asia Cup.

India's top-order performed well in the Asia Cup but in bits & pieces and that could be one of concern for the selectors. Although Virat Kohli's 71st international century came as an opener, the top-three is unlikely to witness any changes. KL Rahul along with Rohit Sharma is highly expected to open for Men in Blue, while Virat Kohli will be bat at his usual position.

While Indian selector are expected to meet anytime soon, the news about their meeting is already buzzing on social media and Indian cricket fans have started sharing their Playing XI for the T20 World Cup. Many Indian cricket fans are heavily betting on senior Indian pacer Mohammad Shami and have included him in their predicted Playing XI.
