India legend Virat Kohli’s wife Anushka Sharma has reacted to her husband’s decision to retire from Test cricket. Kohli bid adieu to the longest form of the sport after serving India for 14 years in the longest form of the sport. On May 12, he announced his decision through a long note posted on Instagram. In his long career, the star player achieved some sensational success as captain and batter in red-ball cricket. Holding reins of the Test side, he became the first captain to guide India to a series win on Australian soil in 2018. He also holds the record of being the fourth-successful batter for India in cricket’s oldest format, notching up 9230 runs in 210 innings of 123 matches.

Reacting to her husband’s decision, Anushka took to Instagram and posted a picture of herself with the 36-year-old. She captioned the post, “They’ll talk about the records and the milestones — but I’ll remember the tears you never showed, the battles no one saw, and the unwavering love you gave this format of the game. I know how much all this took from you. After every Test series, you came back a little wiser, a little humbler — and watching you evolve through it all has been a privilege.”

The Bollowywood actress also added, “Somehow, I always imagined you’d retire international cricket in whites — But you’ve always followed your heart, and so I just want to say my love, you’ve earned every bit of this goodbye.”

Kohli might be next seen in action in October

After retiring from Tests, Virat Kohli’s appearance in international cricket will be limited as he along with Rohit Sharma will be seen in One-Day Internationals (ODI) only. Both India legends might next be seen against Australia in the three-match ODI series to be played down under in October.

India have an ODI fixture against Bangladesh in August but the strained relations between both neighbouring countries might cancel the conduct of the competition. Kohli’s last international appearance was against New Zealand in the Champions Trophy 2025 final played at the iconic Dubai International Stadium on March 9.
