Former India opener Virender Sehwag has berated Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s (RCB) batting attack for their failure against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 18. Batting first after losing the toss, the home side lost their half side at a score of 33 in 6.1 overs. Captain Rajat Patidar, who was looking in fine touch with his bat, also departed after scoring 23 off 18. However, it was Tim David’s batting effort that helped RCB to reach a decent score of 95 in 14 overs.

After the match, Sehwag said RCB players batted recklessly as they threw their wickets while attacking bowlers. "RCB batted poorly. All of them played negligent shots to get dismissed. Not a single batter fell against a good ball. At least one batter should've used common sense. If they had wickets in hand, they could have reached 110 or 120 in 14 overs, which would have given them a chance to fight. There is a difference between getting wickets and gaining wickets," said Sehwag in a conversation with CricBuzz.

Nehal Wadhera’s batting heroics guided PBKS to their fifth win in IPL 2025

PBKS won their fifth game in the tournament, riding on Nehal Wadhera’s unbeaten 33 off 19. Chasing the target of 96, Punjab witnessed themselves in trouble after losing four batters at a score of 53 in eight overs. However, Wadhera didn’t lose hope and produced a match-winning knock to help his team take home with 11 balls to spare in the game.

Punjab are now in the third spot on the points tally with their convincing win against RCB while Challengers, who were in the third place before the PBKS challenge, are in the fourth position. Both teams will now take on each other in Mohali on April 20.
