Carlos Alcaraz, the 20-year-old sensation who stunned the tennis world by winning Wimbledon, had a hilarious moment on live television when he accidentally dropped his trophy. The Spanish star defeated Novak Djokovic 1-6, 7-6(6), 6-1, 3-6, 6-4 in a thrilling five-set final to clinch his first Wimbledon trophy.

In an online interview with CNN, the interviewers wanted to get a closer look at his Wimbledon trophy, which is a replica of the original one that is kept at the All-England Club. However, when Alcaraz picked up his trophy, it nearly fell down from his bed.

The top of the trophy was separated in the process as Alcaraz quickly recovered and laughed off the incident, as did the hosts. The Wimbledon Champion apologized and explained that the trophy was not very stable. He then showed the trophy again, holding it more carefully this time.

Watching the video on Twitter, Alcaraz posted a series of laughing emojis and is certainly enjoying the last 24 hours as tennis' new star having won the most prestigious grand slam. The trophy he had in his hands was almost certainly a replica anyway because the official trophy does not leave the grounds of the All-England Club.

Alcaraz became the third youngest male Wimbledon champion in history and also solidified his top spot in the rankings. The Spanish player displayed incredible talent, courage, and resilience throughout the tournament, beating some of the best players in the game, such as Stefanos Tsitspas, Daniil Medvedev, Holger Rune, and Djokovic.

Alcaraz's trophy mishap was not the first one to happen on live television as Ashleigh Barty, who won the French Open, also dropped her trophy during an interview with Eurosport in 2019. In 2018, Simona Halep, who won the Australian Open, broke her trophy while posing for photos with it. She said it was not a big deal and that she still had the memories of her victory.
