England’s middle-order batter Harry Brook has called his veteran teammate Joe Root the best Test batter of all-time. Brook, who is gearing up for the fourth Test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025, appeared in a presser and answered some intriguing questions from the media. England will look to be at their best in the fourth match to be played at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester. In the third contest played at the Lord’s Cricket Ground, Joe Root displayed his batting brilliance and struck 104 runs off 199. His majestic knock played a vital role in England’s 22-run success.

Root’s superb batting show at Lord’s helped him depose Harry Brook from the number one spot for Test batters in the International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings. Replying to the question from a mediaperson on the recent development, Brook called Root the best Test batter of all time. "Everybody wants to be number one, don't they? Him [Joe Root] probably more than anybody else. He's a phenomenal player. I'm not in the same league as him, so I'll happily let him have it. He's played for 12-13 years or however long he's played. In my opinion, he's the best test batter of all time, so I'll let him have that one for now," said Brook in the press conference.

Harry Brook hails Jofra Archer’s confident Test comeback

Harry Brook also appreciated Jofra Archer’s superb Test comeback at Lord’s. Brook said it was an awesome experience for him to watch the speedster’s opening spell. "That opening spell he bowled, on his first spell, it was awesome to watch, he was bowling nearly 94mph every ball and swinging it. It's tough to face. I'm being honest with the slope as well, and it was just awesome to watch him get a wicket in his first over," added Brook.

Jofra Archer made a comeback in Test cricket after four-and-a-half years. In England’s close victory at iconic Lord’s, Archer made a contribution of five wickets. In both innings of the match, he got the better of opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.
