In the first T20 International (T20I) between Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Shere Bangla National Stadium, the latter side looked completely out of rhythm and registered a humiliating seven-wicket defeat. Batting first after losing the toss, the Green Army saw themselves under huge trouble after losing their five batters at a score of 46 in 7.4 overs. In the pressure situation, Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah were expected to step up and display their ferocious side with their bats. Zaman was looking in fine touch with his bat as he was the only batter who was showing valiance against the hosts’ fiery bowling.

However, on the third ball of the 12th over, the miscommunication between Zaman and Khushdil while stealing a couple of runs forced the former to return to the striker’s end. The things got completely out of Zaman’s hand as the southpaw slipped while returning to the main end after Khushdil’s retraction, which led to him giving a death stare to the non-striker. The Bangla stumper Litton Das didn’t miss the opportunity and dislodged the bails to end Zaman’s innings on 44 off 34. He scored 30 runs through boundaries (six four and a maximum).

Parvez Hossain Emon decimated Pakistan’s bowling attack

After the below-par batting show, Pakistan were expected to put up a fight while defending the low target, but Parvez Hossain Emon was in no mood to relent against the Men in Green. After the early dismissals of Tanzid Hasan and Litton Das, Parvez displayed composure and built a 73-run partnership with Towhid Hridoy.

Following Hridoy’s fall, Emon switched to the aggressive batting style and took the visitors’ bowling attack to the cleaners. Riding on his unbeaten 58 off 39, Bangladesh completed the target in 15.3 overs and emerged triumphant by seven wickets. This was Emon’s second T20I fifty against Pakistan.
