The auction for the sixteenth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) i.e. IPL 2023 took place on Friday (23 December) in Kochi. Players from across the globe went under the hammer. While some had hard luck getting any buyers, some players got early Christmas gifts from franchises. The luckiest among all was England’s Sam Curran who fetched a massive 18.50 CR at the IPL 2023 Auction. Punjab Kings loosened their purse to secure the services of the premium English all-rounder.

With Curran finishing T20 World Cup 2022 as Player of the Tournament, the England all-rounder was expected to attract massive bids. As soon as Curran’s name was announced in the auction hall, franchises went bonkers for securing his services. While Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) started the bidding war, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) made a late entry. Punjab Kings (PBKS) also joined the bidding war and eventually got hold of Curran by staying at their bid of 18.5 Cr. The owners looked extremely happy with the purchase.
