Liam Livingstone has been one such cricketer who has been making lots of noise in T20 cricket, with his incredible all-round performances in short format of the game. He was always going to be one of the most sought after players on Day 2 of IPL 2022 mega auction. However, the all-rounder went on to exceed all the expectations, as franchises underwent a dramatic bidding war despite limited budgets.

In the beginning, it looked like Kolkata Knight Riders and Chennai Super Kings were the only teams interested in Livingstone. However, they were later joined by Gujarat Titans and all of a sudden, all the three teams were out of race with Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings the final two sides left in the race.

Both the teams came up with back-t0-back bids and just when Punjab Kings registered the bid of Rs 11.50 crore, the SRH management looked in lot of confusion. There was lot of discussion at their table with phone calls being made, as they asked auctioneer Charu Sharma to wait.

Eventually, they decided to pull out of the battle and the deal was done - Livingstone to PBKS for an astonishing sum of Rs 11.50 crore - making him the most expensive overseas signing of the mega auction, going past Wanindu Hasaranga (to RCB) and Nicholas Pooran (to SRH) at Rs 10.75 crore.
