Former India captain Kapil Dev has reacted to the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) decision of honouring Indian Armed Forces during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 closing ceremony on Tuesday, June 3, in Ahmedabad. The board will celebrate the Indian Armed Forces’ heroics in Operation Sindoor. The programme will feature all Indian Armed Forces chiefs top-ranked officers and soldiers. BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia made the announcement through a media statement.

Noting the development, Kapil was asked about BCCI’s move. Talking about it, Kapil said that we Indians are proud of our armed forces as they have proven themselves.”Let’s pay them respect, what they have done for us and for our country. Only thing I want to say, let’s not talk show the unity, show the power, zyada badi baat karne ki zarurat nahi hai, bade kaam karne ki zarurat hai, jo humari army ne kiya hai,” said Kapil while addressing the media.

Hume malum hai humari force ne kitni performance di hai. Khade hoke stage pe zor-zor se bolne se kaam nahi hota.”

IPL 2025 heading towards its conclusion with playoffs

Following the league round of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, it’s time for the fans to witness the top-notch competition in the playoffs. In Qualifier 1, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will look to beat each other in Mohali, to reserve the spot for the final to be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium on June 3.

In Eliminator, Gujarat Titans (GT) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will look to give their everything in Mohali on May 30, as the losing side of this game will end their tournament. Both teams faced each other in the knockout game in 2023 in Ahmedabad, where Titans thrashed the Men in Blue by 62 runs. Mumbai will look to avenge that defeat in the upcoming game against Shubman Gill and his side.
