Everyone makes mistakes, there is nothing shameful about it. However, getting away after committing a mistake is not easy these days. With the increased use of social media, anything and everything goes viral. The same happened with a TV news anchor who mistakenly mentioned Indian politician Rahul Gandhi’s name as an Indian cricket team player.

The incident took place during a live bulletin show when the anchor said that “Rahul Gandhi will open the innings for India at the T20 World Cup”. Notably, the anchor was reading news about India’s opening combination for the T20 World Cup 2022 wherein he mistakenly called out Rahul Gandhi’s name instead of KL Rahul.

“India team captain Rohit Sharma has said that Rahul Gandhi will open the innings for India at T20 World Cup; Virat Kohli also might open in a few games,” said the TV anchor on air. This video went viral on social media as a user shared it on Twitter with the caption “Rahul Gandhi will open for India in T20 World Cup: India TV anchor”.

Notably, Rohit Sharma had named KL Rahul as the preferred opening choice for the T20 World Cup while he has suggested that Virat Kohli also might open the innings in a few games. India will be starting their T20 World Cup 2022 campaign against arch-rivals Pakistan on 23 October. The Men in Blue have been placed in Group 2 alongside Pakistan, Bangladesh, and South Africa.
