In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, RCB opener Phil Salt looked exceptional with his bat in the initial overs of the game, but lost his wicket due to misunderstanding with his opening ally, Virat Kohli. In the fourth over of the match, Salt strove to steal a run on Axar Patel’s delivery. However, after hesitation from Kohli, the England batter looked to return to the striker’s end but stumbled on his way. Eventually, DC wicket-keeper KL Rahul collected the ball and dislodged the bails to conclude Salt’s innings on 37 off 17.

Phil Salt looked in brilliant touch with his bat in the initial overs of the match. In the third over of the contest, he took pacer Mitchell Starc to the cleaners and struck 25 runs from his bat. On the first three deliveries, the English player hoarded 14 runs through a maximum followed by a couple of fours. After getting hit for three boundaries, Starc got nervous and bowled a no ball, which was smashed for a four. After the invalid delivery, Salt took advantage of a free-hit and cleared the fence to add six more runs to his team's profile.

The next delivery, he rotated the strike, which brought Virat Kohli in front of the Aussie. On the last delivery of the over, Kohli failed to make contact with the back of a length delivery but the ball passed the short fine leg, which eventually added four more runs. The fierce batting from Salt helped RCB plunder 30 runs from Starc’s second over.

RCB post 163/7 batting first

Talking about the match, DC skipper Axar Patel emerged victorious at the toss against his counterpart Rajat Patidar and invited the hosts to bat first. Bengaluru will endeavour to halt Delhi’s juggernaut as the Axar Patel-led side has been the only unbeaten team in the ongoing T20 extravaganza.

Batting first, RCB posted a total of 163 runs for the loss of seven wickets in their 20 overs. Phil Salt scored a quickfire 37(17) runs while Tim David gave finishing touches with an unbeaten 37*(20) runs. Apart from that, Virat Kohli and skipper Rajat Patidar contributed with 22 runs and 25 runs respectively. For DC, Vipraj Nigam and Kuldeep Yadav took two wickets each while Mukesh Kumar and Mohit Sharma scalped a wicket each.
