Former Indian cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin didn’t hold back in calling out England captain Ben Stokes after a draw in the Manchester Test against India on July 27. Notably, with 15 overs remaining on the day, Stokes came to shake hands to Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar, offering a draw. However, Jadeja and Sundar, who were nearing their respective hundreds, refused to end the game at that moment which frustrated the English captain.
After that, Ben Stokes went on to confront Ravindra Jadeja as he said, “Jaddu, you want to get a Test hundred against Harry Brook and Joe Root?" However, Jadeja and Sundar continued to play and went on to complete their respective tons. Jadeja remained unbeaten on 107*(185) runs while Sundar scored 101*(206) runs as the game eventually ended in a draw. After the match, R. Ashwin uploaded a video on his YouTube channel along with journalist Vimal Kumar where he slammed Ben Stokes and labelled them of "double standards.”
"Have you heard the term double standards? They played your bowlers all day, batted you out and suddenly when they're nearing hundreds, you want to walk off? Why should they?" Ashwin said.
If I was captain, I would have played the entire 15 overs: R. Ashwin
Speaking further, Ravichandran Ashwin stated that he would have gone to play their entire remaining 15 overs if he was the captain of the Indian team. The former cricketer also said that both Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar deserved their hundreds and India were well within their rights to refuse a draw.

"They have played all your bowlers since morning and taken it to a draw. They have worked hard, so you want them to leave their hundred?" Ashwin said. "If I was the Indian captain, I would have played the entire 15 overs," he further added.
"These are Test runs, a century is earned, not gifted, Washington deserved it, Jadeja deserved it. Period,” the former Indian cricketer concluded.
