Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) supporters have looked emotional during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 game between their team and defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Bengaluru fans were seen paying tribute to their star player Virat Kohli, who announced retirement from international Test cricket on May 12. After serving India for 14 years, Kohli called time on his red-ball career ahead of the team’s crucial five-Test assignment in England, set to be started from June 20. After Kohli’s decision, there were headlines that his supporters will be paying tribute to him by donning white jerseys during the contest between RCB and KKR.

As decided, a large crowd was seen wearing white jerseys while waiting to spectate the crucial game at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. From the evening, Bengaluru’s Shivaji Nagar started witnessing a huge number of cricket fans wearing India jerseys with Kohli printed on the back. Posting a clip of fans outside Bengaluru’s stadium on X, IPL 2025 broadcaster Star Sports wrote, “To Virat, with LOVE! A lovely gesture by the fans in Bengaluru, donning white jerseys to pay tribute to Virat Kohli's incredible Test journey!”

Rain intervention stalls the start of game between RCB and KKR in Bengaluru

Heavy rain in Bengaluru has been testing the patience of cricket fans who were waiting for IPL 2025 to resume on May 17. As rain didn’t stop after 8:55 PM, spectators will get to witness the curtailed game as overs have started to reduce. KKR will expect the match to happen as no result will almost eliminate them from the competition.

Currently, Ajinkya Rahane and his boys are placed in the sixth spot on the points table with 11 points earned through five victories and the washed-out game against Punjab Kings (PBKS). They need to win their both contests to keep themselves alive in the playoffs race.
