Kolkata Knight Riders' batter Venkatesh Iyer went down in pain as he attempted to play a scoop shot against Mumbai Indians' Cameron Green at the Wankhede Stadium in the ongoing match. The incident occurred in the fourth over as Iyer, after hitting a boundary, tried to up the scoring rate once again.

But as he missed the scoop shot, Green's delivery went on to hit Iyer on his knee. Immediately after the impact, Iyer went down on the ground as MI physio rushed to help him.

After this incident, Venkatesh Iyer found some magical form and went on to score a century. The MP all-rounder ended with a score of 104 in 51 balls and helped the Knight Riders post a total of 185 runs in their stipulated 20 overs. In this knock, Iyer smashed six fours and nine sixes all across the ground at a strike rate of 203.92.
Further reacting to this performance, Iyer spoke about how he was focusing on racking up runs for the teams. He then expressed that he tried to stay in the moment and not get ahead of himself.
Iyer, in the mid-innings interview, said, " Feels great, coming to Mumbai and a game is always special. Getting a hundred is even more special. I think the boys will defend this total. I want to play for the team, I am not going to think about the 16th over when I am in the 6th over, just try to focus on the present moment, don't want to think far too ahead."
