Delhi Capitals mentor Kevin Pietersen jokingly spoke about his relationship with wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul. Notably, both the individuals share a very unique equation with each other leaving the fans puzzled regarding their relationship. Recently, Rahul took a hilarious dig at Pietersen for his Maldives amidst the ongoing IPL 2025 season. Notably, the former English cricketer also shared a tweet previously criticising Rahul’s batting in T20 cricket.
While speaking at an event, Kevin Peitersen with KL Rahul on his side said that the relationship between both of them is improving day by day and they will eventually end up becoming friends by the end of the tournament. “You guys have all seen on social media my relationship with KL, and I am still working on it. It is getting better, it is improving. We gave him a couple of days to relax, these last couple of days," Pietersen said in a video posted by DC on their social media.
“But it is getting better. So hopefully by the end of the tournament, we will be friends. Hopefully," he further added.

KL has been playing in a very positive manner: Kevin Pietersen
Kevin Pietersen also heaped praise on KL Rahul’s batting in IPL 2025 and said that the wicketkeeper batter is playing in a very positive manner. Rahul is DC’s leading run-getter this season amassing 371 runs in nine matches at an average of 53 and a strike rate of 146.06.
“KL has been playing in a very positive manner since late last year, mid to late last year. We saw how he finished off a couple of the games for India and almost sealed the deal in the Champions Trophy in Dubai," Kevin Pietersen was quoted as saying by News18.
“I’ve had a lot of incredibly brilliant conversations with him about batting, a lot of deep and meaningful conversations because when you grow up as a youngster like he did and you get taught defence, elbow up, play in the V and then all of a sudden in your 30s, you’ve got to change it and you’ve got to become a different kind of player for a different format which is evolving all the time," DC mentor added.
