Friday saw Team India taking a 1-0 lead against Australia in their three-match ODI series and clinching the top spot in the ICC ODI Team Rankings. With this achievement, the Men in Blue are the top-placed side in the world across all three formats of international cricket. Apart from that, Pakistan announced their World Cup squad and made some notable changes.

Bangladesh vs New Zealand

After the first match between Bangladesh and New Zealand was washed out by rain, both teams will look to take the lead in the three-match ODI series by winning the second ODI, which is scheduled to take place on Saturday. In the last game, Bangladesh bowlers Mustafizur Rahman and Nasum Ahmed combined to take five wickets at 123 runs as the Kiwis managed to score 136 runs for five wickets before the match was abandoned.

England vs  Ireland

Just like the Bangladesh versus New Zealand series, the first match between England and Ireland was abandoned due to rain, however, the match that was scheduled to be played in Leeds was abandoned without a ball being bowled. England will host Ireland for the second ODI in Nottingham on Saturday and will look to take the lead in the three-match ODI series.

India become top-ranked team across formats after beating Australia in 1st ODI

Team India kicked off the three-match ODI series against Australia with a five-wicket triumph in Mohali on Friday. After a great bowling display led by Mohammed Shami, who took five wickets, Indian batters guided their side to the victory with eight balls remaining. Shubman Gill (74) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (71) were the top scorers in the match while Shami received the Man of the Match award for his 5 for 51 in 10 overs.

Pakistan's ODI World Cup 2023 squad: Hasan Ali replaces injured Naseem Shah

After their disappointing exit from the Asia Cup 2023, Pakistan dealt a major blow as their star pacers Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah suffered injuries. Although Rauf recovered from the injury, Naseem Shah has been ruled out of Pakistan's ODI World Cup 2023 squad and veteran bowler Hasan Ali has been named the replacement. Ahead of the CWC 2023, Pakistan will play their first warm-up game against New Zealand on September 29.

Pakistan cancel pre-World Cup Dubai trip due to visa delay

Due to the complicated and tense political backdrop, Pakistan are the only team still awaiting visas among the nine sides travelling to India for the World Cup. Due to the delay, Pakistan's initial plan to travel to UAE early next week was cancelled and now plan to reach Dubai early next Wednesday and fly to Hyderabad from there for their warm-up game against New Zealand.

ODI World Cup 2023 Prize Money Revealed: Winners to get over INR 33 crore

The 13th edition of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup will see the winners of the 10-team tournament earn US $4 million, along with the trophy that they will lift at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 19 November.  The runners-up will receive US $2 million, while the losing semi-finalists will get $800,000 each from the total prize pot of US $10 million. The 48-match event will be played across 10 venues from 5 October.

Guyana Amazon Warriors beat  Jamaica Tallawahs to reach CPL 2023 final

After losing Qualifier 1 against Trinbago Knight Riders, Guyana Amazon Warriors dominated Jamaica Tallawahs in Qualifier 2 on Friday at the Providence Stadium. GAW beat JT by 81 runs to qualify for the final, where they will face Kieron Pollard's Knight Riders. After placing a target of 183 runs, Guyana restricted Jamaica to 101 runs as skipper Imran Tahir picked up three wickets while Dwaine Pretorius took two wickets.

ECB set to bring in multi-year contracts for England Men's team

Big names in cricket receive various temptations to join the franchise cricket team and the England and Wales Cricket Board has come up with new contract offers for their Men's team to avoid the talent drain to the global T20 franchise circuit. Jofra Archer, who has been a target of many franchises, could be among those players to sign multi-year contracts. The ECB has offered a revamped deal that features three-year contracts for England's best and brightest cricketers.

ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024 Date and Venues Revealed

The ICC on Friday, 22 September confirmed Antigua & Barbuda, Barbados, Dominica, Guyana, St Lucia, Trinidad & Tobago, and St Vincent & The Grenadines as the seven Caribbean venues that will host matches during the T20 World Cup 2024 from 4 to 20 June.
