Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic made a stunning comeback from a two-set deficit in the third round of the US Open 2023 and took down compatriot Laslo Djere. With this win, Djokovic not only managed to make it to the next round of the tournament but also avoided what would have been his earliest exit in the tournament since 2006. 

The world number 2 player, who will face Croatia’s 25-year-old in the next round of the tournament, defeated Djere 4-6, 4-6, 6-1, 6-1, 6-3. On the other hand, world number 1 ranked women’s tennis star Iga Swiatek advanced to the round of 16 by taking down her friend, Kaja Juvan. Swiatek secured a 6-0, 6-1 victory over her rival, who also happens to be her best friend. 

Coco Gauff hilariously announces Novak Djokovic match at US Open 2023

The WTA No. 6 Coco Gauff came from behind in her third-round match against Belgium's Elise Mertens at the US Open 2023 on Friday night. However, the American was involved in a funny interaction with the announcer after her 3-6, 6-3, 6-0 win at the Arthur Ashe Stadium. After winning the game, Gauff hilariously announced her session partner Novak Djokovic ahead of his match against compatriot Laslo Djere in an all-Serbian clash. 

Michael Jordan’s son talks about NBA star’s biggest fear

Marcus Jordan, son of NBA legend Michael Jordan, revealed the basketball star’s biggest fear. The 32-year-old talked about his father’s biggest fear on the iHeartRadio podcast, which is co-hosted by his girlfriend Larsa Pippen. 

Marcus revealed his father’s fear on the podcast and said that he is also terrified of something. Junior Jordan said, “There's a bunch of stuff that I feel like people don't know. One is that he's terrified of snakes.”

In honor of her late father Kobe Bryant, the daughter Natalia Bryant threw the first pitch before the Los Angeles Dodgers hosted the Atlanta Braves at the Dodgers Stadium on September 1, Friday. The 20-year-old, who is a student at the University of Southern California and a model for IMG, was accompanied by her mother Vanessa, and younger sisters, namely Bianka and Capri.

IOA denies Russian and Belarusian athletes Asian Games 2022 participation

Athletes from Russia and Belarus are denied permission to participate in the Asian Games by the International Olympic Association amidst rising tensions between the two nations and Ukraine. 

The Olympic Council of Asia confirmed the news on Friday without elaboration. The OCA had agreed to accept a maximum of 500 athletes from the two nations—which are subject to sanctions by the invasion of Ukraine—for the competition in Hangzhou during its General Assembly in July. 

D Gukesh replaces Vishwanathan Anand as India's top-ranked chess player

In a historic moment for Indian chess, 17-year-old Grandmaster D. Gukesh has surpassed the legendary Viswanathan Anand as the top-ranked Indian player in the official FIDE rating list. 

The latest update in the list shows Gukesh at the eighth position in the world with a rating of 2758, while Anand is at the ninth spot with a rating of 2754. This marks the end of Anand's remarkable reign as India's No. 1 since July 1986, when he became the country's first Grandmaster.
