As Wrexham prepare for the Championship, their recruitment drive shows no signs of slowing. They are reportedly eyeing Wales and Sheffield United striker Kiefer Moore. Manager Phil Parkinson has already bolstered the squad with six permanent signings this summer, including Plymouth Argyle striker Ryan Hardie, former Leicester City goalkeeper Danny Ward, Empoli left-back Liberato Cacace, Bolton Wanderers captain George Thomason, ex-Sheffield Wednesday forward Josh Windass, and Nottingham Forest midfielder Lewis O’Brien. Reports claim that their next signing is considered to be the most ambitious move yet by the club under Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.

Wrexham has reportedly approached to sign former Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen. The 33-year-old Denmark international, now a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Manchester United at the end of the 2024-25 season. Eriksen is a 144- cap international with a career at Ajax, Tottenham Hotspur, Inter Milan, and Manchester United, signaling Wrexham’s intent to make a seismic statement in the transfer market. Eriksen's agent Martin Schoots told the Daily Mail that Wrexham was a “hugely impressive project” but added: “Christian still wants to play in a first-tier competition and he absolutely wants to stay in Western Europe.”

Christian Eriksen made a comeback after suffering a cardiac arrest in 2020

Christian Eriksen has won three Eredivisie titles with Ajax, a Serie A crown with Inter Milan, and both an FA Cup and League Cup with Manchester United, brings a wealth of experience at the highest levels of the game. His final season at Old Trafford saw him make 35 appearances, scoring five goals and providing six assists, though he started only 11 Premier League matches due to an injury crisis and competition in United’s midfield. His last act in a United shirt was a penalty in a 2-0 victory over Aston Villa in May 2025, a fitting end to a three-year stint where he made 107 appearances and netted eight goals. He made a remarkable return to elite football after suffering a cardiac arrest during a UEFA Euro 2020 match.

While landing Eriksen would be a signing befitting the club’s ownership, his likely preference for top-flight football may force Wrexham to pivot to more attainable targets. Following three successive promotions under Phil Parkinson, Wrexham are now set for what will be their first season in the second tier since 1981-82.
