The Kiwis have defeated India in a roller-coaster finale of the World Test Championship to become the winners of the inaugural edition. The experienced duo of Kane Williamson (52*) and Ross Taylor (47*) held their nerves as New Zealand chased down the 139-run target quite comfortably in the end to seal the victory. Redemption for Kane Williamson's men in England just two years after their heart-breaking defeat in 2019 World Cup Final.

Team India end the day on 64/2 with a 32-run lead going into the final day of the match. Tim Southee was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand as he dismissed both the openers - Shubman Gill and Rohit Sharma. Virat Kohli (8*) and Cheteshwar Pujara (12*) will begin the proceedings for India in what is expected to be thrilling end to this finale in Southampton. 9:24 PM IST: Indian openers are in the middle. What is your score prediction for the third innings?
Mohammed Shami’s 4/76 and Ishant Sharma’s 3/48 have helped India bowl out Kiwis for 249. However, the Blackcaps added 114 runs in the second session to ensure they take a 32-run first innings lead. R Ashwin and R Jadeja also chipped in with a couple of wickets at the end to wrap up the tail. Devon Conway and Kane Williamson were the top-scorers for New Zealand.

08: 30 PM IST: Ishant Sharma removes Williamson for 49 but not before he has ensured the Kiwis take a first innings, lead, New Zealand are 221/8. Ishant produced the edge and it went straight to a wide second slip where it Kohli himself who was positioned.
07:53 PM IST: It's been Shami's day so far and just when the partnership between Williamson and Jamieson was looking to take the game away from India with Jamieson playing attacking strokes, Shami's bouncer trick has got the better of the tall Kiwi. Caught at long leg by Bumrah.

06:23 PM IST: What an end to the first session on Day 5. Surely, there are chances now for a result. The Kiwis might have lost a trick here by adding just 34 runs and losing three wickets.
06:04 PM IST: It's LUNCH on Day 5. For the first half, it looked like the Kiwis will cut down the deficit without a hiccup but Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Sharma picked three wickets in quick succession to seal the third session in favour of India as the Kiwis lost added just 34 runs.
5:55 PM IST: And now it's Ishant who has picked the wicket of the left-handed Nicholls. That's exactly why he was brought on. New Zealand are now 134/4, trailing by 83 runs. In comes BJ Watling, NOOOOO, he's a goner too as Shami has bowled a peach of a delivery to rattle his stumps after Nicholls was caught in the slips by Rohit Sharma. Kiwis- 135/5 now, still 82 behind.
05: 22 PM IST: After a cautious first hour in which both Kane Williamson and Ross Taylor survived, Mohammed Shami finally gave India the breakthrough they were looking for this morning. Shami pitched it up for the drive and Taylor obliged to play an uppish stroke which was brilliantly taken at the covers by a diving Shubman Gill. The scoreboard at this point read New Zealand- 117/3, trailing by 100 runs.

WTC Final Day 4, 02:18 PM IST: Play unlikely to start on time
It's not good news prior to the scheduled start of Day 4 of the ICC World Test Championship final between India and New Zealand. Dinesh Karthik has told Star Sports that it is raining at the venue as of now and the weather forecast isn't too good either with showers predicted for the large part of the day.
11:00 PM IST: Stumps on Day 3
With the light falling below the permissible levels in Southampton, the players are making their way back to the pavilion as stumps have been called on Day 3. Although Latham (30) and Conway (54) were dismissed by Ashwin and Ishant respectively, the Kiwis have ended the day in a commanding position with the score reading 101/2. Devon Conway reaches a brilliant half-century as he continues his scintillating start to Test career. The New Zealand opener plays a flick off short mid-wicket region and runs three to reach the landmark in 137 deliveries. Kane Williamson sees through the last delivery of Bumrah's over as drinks have been taken in the final session. New Zealand are in a commanding position with 99/1 in 44 overs.

After really long conversations between umpires and the teams, it has been decided to call off today's day in Southampton. India end Day 2 at 146/3 in 64.4 overs with Kohli (44*) and Rahane (29*) at the crease.
10:30 PM IST: Umpires in talk with both teams
The umpires are currently in discussion with both the teams. The light isn't too bright in Southampton and it is very likely that finally the day will be called off now. We are still waiting for an official update on the same.
9:24 PM IST: Bad light stops play once again
It has been a stop-start action in last two hours and the light has deteriorated once again in Southampton. The readings have fallen below the level decided by the umpires and the players are making their way back to the pavilion. India 146/3 (Kohli 44*, Rahane 29*)
9:03 PM IST: 50-run partnership for Kohli-Rahane
India's captain and vice-captain have steadied the ship and calmed the storm as they have added fifty runs for the fourth wicket. From 88/3 to 138/3, the duo has been sensational and has taken India into a comfortable position in this contest.

The players are making their way on the field and the light looks considerably good inside the stadium. We could be in for some significant number of overs before the end of today's play. Virat Kohli will face the first delivery post resumption as Jamieson get ready to bowl.

The second session in Southampton has ended as it was getting dark and the umpires were not satisfied with the light inside the stadium. They only lost the solitary wicket of Cheteshwar Pujara while going for Tea break as they added 51 runs to their total in this session.
