Barcelona are reportedly nearing a deal to sign Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford, who has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford. The Spanish club have reportedly submitted a loan offer via intermediaries, which includes an option to make the move permanent next season. Manchester United are expected to accept the proposal, as per the report from The Athletic. Earlier this summer, Rashford expressed his interest in joining Barcelona. When asked by a Spanish influencer whether he would like to play alongside rising star Lamine Yamal, Rashford replied, "Yes, for sure. Everyone wants to play with the best. Hopefully... we'll see."

Marcus Rashford, 27, has been training separately from Manchester United's first-team squad for the past two weeks after he was informed by the head coach Ruben Amorim that he is not part of his plans at Old Trafford. Although Rashford spent six months on loan at Aston Villa last season, the move did not materialize into a permanent deal despite a pre-agreed £40 million ($53.6 million) fee. However, sources indicate that Rashford has consistently preferred a switch to Barcelona ever since the opportunity first surfaced in January.

Marcus Rashford doesn't deserve to join Barcelona and feels it is a "soul-destroying" episode

Marcus Rashford, who still has three years left on his £325,000-a-week contract at Old Trafford, scored 138 goals in 426 appearances for Manchester United since debuting as an 18-year-old in February 2016. Despite his record, former Manchester United striker Teddy Sheringham believes Rashford doesn't merit a move to Barcelona, describing the situation as a "soul-destroying" chapter in the player's career.

"If you assess where Marcus Rashford is as a professional footballer, you strive as a youngster to get to the very top and play for clubs like Manchester United, and when you're there, you appreciate it. "You don't throw it away and say you want to leave," Teddy told Sky Sports.

He  played a key role in Manchester United’s triumphs in the Europa League, as well as two FA Cup and Carabao Cup victories during his time at the club. However, he hasn’t featured for the team since their Europa League clash against Viktoria Plzen last December. He was dropped by the Head coach, Ruben Amorim, for the 2-1 Premier League win over Manchester City and has since excluded him from first-team selection entirely.
