Newest India Test captain Shubman Gill is currently leading the new-look Indian team in the ongoing Test series in England. He is currently the leading run scorer of the series 607 runs in just three matches so far including a double ton and two centuries. However, despite a great fight, India are trailing by 1-2 in the series and will be looking to win the fourth Test in Manchester to level the series by 2-2 and take it to the decider at The Oval.

During the third Test against England at Lords, Shubman Gill also got involved in a heater banter with England openers, Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett by the end of day three of the Test match. Looking at Crawley and Duckett wasting with just a few moments remaining for the end of the day, Gill went on to confront English openers and said “Grow some f****ing balls”. However, this gesture by the Indian captain didn’t suit well for the former Indian cricketer Manoj Tiwary as he felt that Gill was trying to copy former captain Virat Kohli.

Gill is getting into aggressive mindset after becoming captain: Manoj Tiwary

In his interview with SportsBoom, Manoj Tiwary said that Shubman Gill is trying to get more aggressive since he became the captain. The former cricketer suggested Indian captain to not change himself and show aggression to prove anything.

“I don’t like the way captain Gill is going about things. I think he is trying to copy what Virat did last time. And as a result, it is not helping his batting. Ever since he became a captain in the IPL, I have noticed that he is getting into an aggressive mindset, and having animated chats with umpires. It was unlike Gill. He doesn’t need to show that kind of aggression, and doesn’t have to prove anything,” Tiwary said.

“He can stick to his style of being aggressive. It doesn’t mean that you have to always give it back verbally. Aggression can also be shown by winning Test matches. India could have easily led the series 2-1. Such aggression is not good for the game, especially from the captain of the Indian cricket team," he further added.
