The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is all set to come up with a tactic to tackle gender disparity in its annual general meeting (AGM) at Lord's on May 7. The distinguished cricket club is emphasising on increasing the number of women among its members. Currently, it has only 18,350 full members which reveals that fewer than 3% are women members. At a pre-AGM meeting in April, leading MCC committee figures expressed their discontent at the sluggish progress. As per reports, going through the current development, the MCC will pull off a 80-20% male-to-female ratio by the year 2075.

MCC Chief Executive Rob Lawson, Chairman Mark Nicholas and President Lord King have taken the matter seriously and they have decided to address the conundrum. The legendary cricket club has come up with some steps to increase the number of women among its active playing members, essentially a way for participants to encourage themselves to membership by representing the club in schedules. Last year, there was a 77% rise in women applying to qualify as player members while the number of women's out-games played by the MCC soared by 34%.
