Real Madrid's long-term absentee Dani Carvajal is said to be working hard to return soon to the team. In a recent press interaction, Carvajal said that he was aiming to return before the start of the FIFA Club World Cup which is set to be held in June 2025. Carvajal has been out injured since October 2024 with a cruciate ligament tear and has left a gaping hole in Real Madrid’s backline. Using Lucas Vazquez and Fede Valverde as replacements in his right-back position, Madrid has definitely missed the services of the 33-year-old veteran.

Carvajal has been working hard to recover as early as possible and return to help his club. Talking about the same, he said, “My mission is to be back for the Club World Cup, yes… that’s the goal.” Before getting injured, Carvajal had played in 11 games for Real Madrid, scoring 1 goal and providing 1 assist. He was also their primary captain for the current season, being one of the most experienced players in the squad alongside names like Luka Modric.

Dani Carvajal to face competition from Trent Alexander Arnold next season

Real Madrid’s entire backline has been very unstable this season with multiple injuries keeping a lot of key players sidelined. In the view of this, Madrid will be looking to bring in certain reinforcements to bolster their squad for the next season. William Saliba is reported to be one of the top target for Real Madrid in the center-back position. Along with this, the transfer of Trent Alexander Arnold also seems to be confirmed as he has already officially announced that he is leaving Liverpool at the end of the season.

The arrival of Arnold will mean competition for Dani Carvajal, both of whom play in the right-back position. While Carvajal boasts experience and defensive robustness, Arnold has more creative flair and an attacking edge over Carvajal. It will be interesting to see how Real Madrid will manage the game-time of both of these exceptional players, competing for the same position in the squad.
