The Royal Challengers Bangalore have been handed a massive blow as their star player Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023. The RCB opener who missed the opening match against Mumbai Indians at the M Chinnaswammy Stadium, will miss the entire tournament now.

After Sanjay Bangar said he is hopeful of Patidar’s return, the Bangalore-based franchise on April 4 (Tuesday) confirmed the news of him missing out the 2023 edition. “Unfortunately, Rajat Patidar has been ruled out of #IPL2023 due to an Achilles Heel injury.”

The 29-year-old Indian cricketer was first said to miss the first half of the IPL 2023. It is to be noted that RCB head coach Sanjay Bangar ahead of team’s first match said that he is hopeful that NCA will take a “sporting call” on Patidar. “As far as Rajat goes, at this point he’s out of our control, at the NCA he’s sort of undergoing treatment in that particular academy and we are still waiting for the clarifications from him,” Bangar had said.

After winning their opening match against Mumbai Indians, Royal Challengers Bangalore will now lock horns with Kolkata Knight Riders on April 6 at the Eden Gardens.
