The ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 began with a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final between England and New Zealand, however, the Kiwis took their revenge over the Three Lions. On the other hand, Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou has entered the semi-final stage of the Men's Cricket event.

ODI World Cup 2023: Netherlands vs Pakistan

The ODI World Cup 2023 kicked off with a one-sided game between England and New Zealand, which was won by the latter. In the 2nd match of the tournament, Pakistan will open their World Cup campaign against the Netherlands in Hyderabad on Friday, October 6 at 02:00 p.m. IST.

  • Afghanistan vs Pakistan: Afghanistan defeated Sri Lanka to reach the Men's Cricket semifinal and are scheduled to face Pakistan. Pakistan and Afghanistan will square off against each other at 11:30 a.m. IST at the Zhejiang University of Technology Cricket Field. The winner between the two sides will face India in the final.
  • India vs Bangladesh: India continued their dominant run at the Asian Games 2023 in the Men's Cricket event and thrashed Bangladesh by nine wickets with 64 balls remaining as Ruturaj Gaikwad (40* off 26) and Tilak Varma (55* off 26) helped India achieve the 97-run target in 9.2 overs.

ODI World Cup 2023: Conway, and Rachin help New Zealand beat England by nine wickets

The World Cup 2023 opener was a one-sided affair as New Zealand defeated England by nine wickets as they chased the 283-run target in 36.2 overs. Devon Conway (152*) and Rachin Ravindra (123*) dismantled England's bowling unit as they combined for 30 fours and 8 sixes in the match. While the Kiwis properly executed their planning as Glenn Phillips dismissed Joe Root and Moeen Ali in his 3-over spell while sending Ravindra up the order was also proved to be a brilliant decision.

Australia Women beat West Indies Women to clinch series 2-1

Despite the Windies captain, Hayley Matthews another spectacular knock that took her total to over 300 runs in the three-match T20I series, the Australia women's team defeated West Indies by 47 runs to clinch the series 2-1. Batting first, Australia placed 190 for 9 on the board as  Tahlia McGrath smashed 65 off 34 and  Phoebe Litchfield scored 36 runs off just 17 balls. In response, Hayley smashed 79-ball-40, however, lacked support from the other end as West Indies were bowled out on 143 runs.  Darcie Brown and  Ashleigh Gardner picked three wickets each for Australia.

Axar Patel admits his hand is broken while celebrating Risbabh Pant's birthday

Indian all-rounder Axar Patel revealed that his hand was broken while celebrating Indian wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant's birthday at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru. Patel suffered major injuries in the Super 4s stage of the recently concluded Asia Cup 2023 in Sri Lanka.  Axar Patel was spotted talking about his injured hand in Pant's Instagram story when the duo were trying to rub cake on Team India Physiotherapist, Nitin Patel.

BCCI announces free drinking water for spectators in ODI World Cup 2023

The ICC Men's ODI World Cup 2023 will commence on Thursday, October 5 with the opener between England and New Zealand as a rematch of the 2019 World Cup final. Ahead of the quadrennial showpiece, BCCI secretary Jay Shah announced free drinking water for the spectators in the World Cup matches across all the venues in India.

Marcus Stoinis doubtful for Australia's World Cup opener against India

Australia are scheduled to commence their ODI World Cup 2023 campaign against India on October 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Ahead of the clash, the Aussies received a setback as Marcus Stoinis is still doubtful to feature in Australia's playing xi against India in the Chennai opener. The Australian all-rounder picked up a hamstring niggle in the first ODI against India in Mohali last month and has yet to play a game since then.
