Friday witnessed heavyweights like India, Australia, England, New Zealand, and South Africa among others in action. While India lost a dead rubber game against Bangladesh in the Asia Cup 2023 which was a mere formality as Team India have already qualified, South Africa registered over 400 runs in their fourth ODI against Australia.

Bangladesh beat India after 4200 days in Asia Cup
After qualifying for the Asia Cup 2023 final, Team India rested their star players Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Siraj, and Kuldeep Yadav as Tilak Varma made his debut while Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Shami returned to the playing xi. Bangladesh, who were winless in the Super 4s stage, went on to win the game against India by six runs despite Shubman Gill's lone-ranger inning of 121 runs.

Heinrich Klaasen's heroics help South Africa beat Australia by 164 runs
South Africa levelled the five-match ODI series by 2-2 after winning the fourth match at the SuperSport Centurion Park on Friday. Klaasen scored a quickfire knock of 174 runs off just 83 balls with 13 sixes and 13 fours to help the Proteas register a mammoth total of 416 runs. While chasing the target, the Aussies kept losing their wickets, however, wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey held the crease at one end. Carey was the 10th wicket in the visitors' innings as he fell one run short of completing his century after coming to bat at number 4.
Apart from losing the match, Australia received another setback as opener Travis Head suffered a fracture in his left hand putting his World Cup availability for the starting matches in jeopardy.
Former Australian cricketer Stuart MacGill charged for alleged commercial drug deal
Former Australian Test bowler Stuart MacGill, 52, has been arrested in an alleged commercial deal of cocaine. The retired cricketer has been charged for knowingly being involved in the supply of the drug in large quantities. MacGill came under the scrutiny of the investigators in April 2021 after he was reportedly kidnapped outside his home.
England clinch series 3-1 after beating New Zealand by 100 runs in 4th ODI
After taking a 2-1 lead in the four-match ODI series, Jos Buttler's England defeated New Zealand by 100 runs in the fourth and final ODI to clinch the series 3-1. Third match's star Ben Stokes was rested for the game and Dawid Malan stepped up in his absence to score a sensational 127-run knock that helped the Three Lions to put in a decent total of 311 runs with a loss of nine wickets.
While chasing the target, the Kiwi batters kept losing their wickets as all-rounder Rachin Ravindra, who also picked up four wickets with his bowling, scored the highest runs (61) for his team. Moeen Ali was the most successful bowler for England as he took four wickets in 10 overs at an economy of 5. The Blackcaps pacer Tim Southee also fractured a bone in his right thumb during a dropped catch and raised speculations over his World Cup involvement.

In the inaugural season of the SA20, no Indian and Pakistani players were featured, and former Indian batter Robin Uthappa could become the first Indian cricketer to feature in the South African T20 league. The 37-year-old Uthappa has registered for the auction ahead of the SA20 second season. According to reports, five Pakistani players could also join Uthappa in the auction including Naseem Shah.
Nepal announce 15-member squad for Asian Games 2023
The Asian Games 2023 will be held in Hangzhou, China, from September 19 and Nepal have announced their 15-member squad on Friday. Notably, cricket makes a return to the Games and will be played in the T20I format. Nepal's r egular captain Rohit Paudel will lead the 15-man squad, and the team are slotted in Group A with the Maldives and Mongolia.

Former England wicketkeeper Steven Davies has announced his decision to retire at the end of the season after a 20-year-long cricket career. Davies played for County Championship teams including Worcestershire, Surrey, and Somerset. Apart from that, the 37-year-old was capped 13 times in limited-overs internationals by the Three Lions.
