Scoring runs from the top of the order is never an easy task. Not when, specifically speaking, you’re part of a system of cricketing excellence called Indian Cricket. And perhaps a bit of an added challenge, especially where it comes to Test match cricket. That Team India have two amazing talents who have scored a very respectable tally of runs and that too, in Test cricket, the sport’s most daunting and remarkable format, is something that’s worthy of praise and perhaps even emulation. On the one hand, there’s the great Sachin Tendulkar who’s been responsible for scoring no fewer than 3617 when he was just 23, we now also have another hopefully-trailblazing-batter in-the-works in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal.
At the age of just 23, Jaiswal has recently reached 2089 Test match runs. That is no small task. That is, in fact, indicative of the left hander engaging in an aggressive and rapid rate of scoring, which has been evident through two strikingly good measures. First that on the whole he’s a fearless batter utterly unafraid to take on the best in the world. And second, that India’s rising star of the game loves Test match cricket.
His prowess at scoring big and scoring freely was evidenced from the fact at just how comfortable and relatively, at ease he seemed where it came to outings in the West Indies and Australia. And even as seen recently in England, Jaiswal was quick to notch up a first ton in English conditions. While Tendulkar is and will always be a legend of the game, there’s immense gladness in the fact that there are others too, such as Yashasvi Jaiswal who are walking in the shadows of icons of our sport.
Sachin Tendulkar- 3617

At 23-years-old, the great Sachin Tendulkar had already scored 3617 runs in international cricket's highest format, to be precise. This was no ordinary achievement. For the simple reason that a man who had made his debut in the highest annals of the game for his country at an age where he had only just crossed the mid teen years, Tendulkar's early leaps in international cricket, as evidenced by his rise in Test cricket, were for the world to see.
For no other world batter came close to matching the streak of domination that Tendulkar was already evidencing.
His, as one would find out, would be a stellar international career that would come to halt but not before hitting 100 international centuries for the country and thus, the highest ever number of tons ever scored by any other batter in the top tier international cricket.
Once a legend, always a legend.
Yashasvi Jaiswal- 2089 Test runs at present

After getting out for a fine score of 58, to be precise, in the ongoing fourth test at Old Trafford in Manchester, Jaiswal took his current Test match tally to 2089 Test match runs. In so doing, he became the most run scorer in Test cricket post Tendulkar or following the great Tendulkar.
Jaiswal's return to form after missing out from scoring useful runs in the last couple of innings, as one had noted at Lord's, also meant that India were in good stead. He would lead the way as seen on Day 1 at Manchester, which was followed by KL Rahul, scoring well at the other end.
Jaiswal has already hit tons in the West Indies as well as Australia before going to make useful runs in England right at the start of the series. He would be out for 58 on the opening day at Manchester as seen earlier today.
That said, there's so much cricket still left on this tour and it appears that Jaiswal, who realistically has 3 more innings in which to bat, has a lot more up his sleeve.
