Los Angeles Dodgers registered an 8-2 defeat against the Philadelphia Phillies at Dodger Stadium. Tanner Scott, who is the crucial member of the Dodgers, didn’t feature in the match. Roberts. Following the Phillies response to a Tommy Edman solo home run with three runs of their own in the fourth inning, Dodgers star player Yoshinobu Yamamoto stayed in the match to start the fifth. After back-to-back singles, Yamamoto was superseded by Anthony Banda. Jack Dreyer took over for the sixth inning and got another zero on the board, however Clayton Kershaw held his nerves and got the ball for the seventh.

With the score at 3-1, Kershaw escaped without allowing a run but after allowing a single, the left-handed batter faced discomfort. Noting the situation, Scott could’ve been brought in the match but it didn’t happen. After a couple of pitches, Philadelphia notched up a home run. Following a walk and a Max Muncy error, a single would score two runs. Kershaw then allowed a two-run bomb to NL home run leader Kyle Schwarber on the first pitch he threw him. Keeping Kershaw didn’t deliver the desired results and eventually, Dodgers recorded a humiliating defeat in front of their home crowd.

Why didn't Tanner Scott play the match?

Following the defeat, when Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts appeared in the post-match presser, he was asked about Tanner Scott’s unavailability. Roberts said that the star player couldn’t show up in the contest due to personal reasons. “He was not at the ballpark today. There was something going on personal. And it’ll come out later. But he was completely unavailable,” remarked Roberts.

After this win, Phillies are at the top of the National League East group with 96 victories and 66 losses while in the National League West pool, Dodgers are still holding the number one spot with 93 wins and 69 defeats.
