Gujarat Titans wicketkeeper Jos Buttler revealed how he left highly impressed while watching Sai Sudharsan batting in the nets in his first day at GT camp. The young opening batter is currently the highest run getter in IPL 2025 with 504 runs in 10 matches and has been a constant performer for GT from the last couple of years. He also scored a quickfire 48(23) runs in last game against Sunrisers Hyderabad in Ahmedabad and gave a good start with skipper Shubman Gill.
After the match, Jos Buttler, who contributed with 64(37) runs in GT’s victory shared his experience when he first saw Sai Sudharsan batting in the nets during his first day in GT. After getting released by Rajasthan Royals, Buttler was bought by GT for ₹15.75 crore in the mega auction.
“I've said it few times, day one watching him (Sai Sudharsan) in the nets, I was blown away by how good he is. More importantly great head on his shoulders. The effort he puts in, the work, the understanding of his game, the humility to keep coming everyday and keep working. He's shown fantastic consistency and getting the rewards he deserves,” Jos Buttler said after the match as quoted by Cricbuzz.
I was as guilty as anyone else: Pat Cummins on SRH’s 7th loss in IPL 2025
The runners-up of the previous edition, Sunrisers Hyderabad, are now the verge of getting knocked out from the playoffs race in IPL 2025. With the defeat against GT, SRH have now lost seven matches this season and will be officially out of the tournament with another defeat. After the match, SRH skipper Pat Cummins took blame for his team’s underwhelming performance this season.
“Couple of things. Our powerplay with the bat wasn't too great. I was as guilty as anyone else. Probably let them get 20-30 extra runs. May be hang on to one or two catches. Again am guilty there. Chasing 200 looked a bit more realistic. They are class batters. They don't do anything outlandish. If you bowl bad balls, they just put it away. We probably dished out too many bad balls,” Pat Cummins said.
